Staying the Course in Uncertain Times
The tragic events unfolding in the Middle East over recent days have been deeply distressing to watch.
Geopolitical events like this understandably create concern, and markets often react in the short term as new information is digested.
Markets Have Been Here Before
Whilst we all feel the anguish and heartache for those affected and hope that tensions can be resolved quickly, it is important to remember that markets have faced geopolitical shocks many times before.
Interestingly, it was almost exactly this time last year when the headlines were dominated by tariff announcements and trade tensions. At the time many commentators were predicting severe and lasting consequences for global markets.
As usual, the noise eventually faded.
The Long-Term Advance
History shows us repeatedly that whilst events may feel dramatic in the moment, markets have an extraordinary ability to absorb shocks, reset expectations, and move forward.
The short-term path is always uncertain, but the long-term advance of global markets has historically proven to be remarkably persistent.
Our approach therefore remains exactly the same and we stay invested.
