Take a glimpse into my life and work…

My Story

Welcome! I’m Martin Wilcocks. I’ve dedicated my life to guiding people toward financial success and security.

With over three decades in banking and wealth management, I’ve been recognised by The Times, The Telegraph, and The Mail on Sunday as one of the UK’s top advisers. Despite my accolades, I’m a down-to-earth guy who loves helping people achieve their financial goals.

After 14 rewarding years at Barclays, I decided to strike out on my own in 2003. Using Nobel prize-winning research, my EVEST™ service provides top-tier investment advice usually reserved for the big leagues.

My Journey

If you had been with me at 8 a.m. on Monday, February 17th 2003, you would have been sat in the director’s suite at Barclays’ head office in Liverpool.

The rain is pouring, and I’m holding an envelope that contains my resignation letter. Ready to toss away a cushy salary, car and bonus, I left the corporate grind behind. Fed up with the pressure to push financial products, I took a leap of faith to make a real difference.

Two decades later, I’m still in the game, loving every minute and continuing to impact my clients’ lives positively. My journey has been filled with highs and lows, challenges and triumphs, but the most rewarding part has always been seeing the financial peace and success of the families I work with.

My Music

I’m not just about numbers and investments; music has always been a huge part of my life.

Growing up in the ’80s, house music became a passion I continue to indulge in. I love playing deep, progressive, and melodic house, occasionally mixing in some tech house and disco baselines.

My DJ skills have graced renowned Ibiza spots like Blue Marlin, Destino Pacha, and Bora Bora and I’m known for taking over the music at every party I attend.

My Music

Music has always been a huge part of my life.

Growing up in the ’80s, my passion was nurtured by my parents, who sent me to piano lessons at Tafelmusik in Oxton, where I completed my first three grades. This early foundation in music theory and practice has stayed with me ever since.

Meanwhile, house music was emerging from Chicago, breaking new ground and transforming the musical landscape. I love playing deep, progressive, and melodic house, occasionally mixing in some disco baselines.

I’ve had the privilege of playing at iconic Ibiza spots Blue Marlin, Destino Pacha, and Bora Bora and I’m also known for taking control of the music at every family party I attend.

If I hadn’t become a wealth manager, I’d probably be in the music business and doing this for a living. Curious to hear my sets? Check out my SoundCloud…

My Charity Work

Giving back is just as important as growing and protecting wealth.

I am a proud corporate partner and sponsor of Save the Children, aiming to help every child reach their full potential. In 2024, I trekked 44 km over 10 days to Machu Picchu in Peru, reaching an altitude of 4,350 meters.

This trek wasn’t the classic Inca Trail and the highest peak we reached was equivalent to approximately 3.5 times the height of Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK. Through this trek, I raised over £5,000 for Save the Children.

We also partner with Buy 1 Give 1 (B1G1) and every time we onboard a new family or private client, we send a donation that makes a real difference to those in need. We support food, clothing, and education initiatives globally, making the world a wealthier place for everyone.

My Fitness

On a cold January morning in 2017, at 45 years old and carrying more timber than a lumberjack, I dragged myself to Lewis Bailey’s private gym in West Kirby. Lewis greeted me with a casual, “Hi mate, what’s happening?”

Desperate, I pointed to my waistline, “I’m 45, been gymming it for five years, and can’t shake any of this off”. He asked about my routine, and I proudly detailed my intense schedule: “I sprint two miles on the treadmill and do lunges and weights at high intensity, but it’s not working for me.”

Once he stopped laughing, he said; “You’re an ectomorph! Any muscle you’ve put on, you’ve run back off.” He told me it would take 18 months of hard graft: nine months of foundation work followed by nine months of development, to carve a bit of shape into me. “Ok, so we do it your way, once a week for 18 months?” I nodded. He burst out laughing again; “No, four days a week – shoulders, back, legs, chest, repeat.”

We started the next day. The first few months were torture. After the nine month foundation phase, we moved to heavier weight training, which was just as brutal. We eventually entered the performance stage and we’ve been there ever since.

I’ve powered through and don’t think about it much. It’s in my calendar, and my job is to just turn up. That’s my biggest reason for having a coach – you can’t let them down, get out of it, or find something else to do. And the truth is, it all started with Ross, Tahnee’s brother. I was 40, and he said, “Mart, you need to sort yourself out, if not for you, for the kids’ sake.” Brutal. But he was right.

Our Team

A descriptive paragraph that tells clients how good you are and proves that you are the best choice that they’ve made.

My Pledge

We work exclusively for you—our client—not for an insurance company, a glossy network, or an investment bank. Your interests are our sole priority. I personally commit to investing your capital with the same care and diligence as I do our own family capital. Your hopes and dreams are as sacred to us as they are to you, and I guarantee you will not find another wealth manager who cares more, or is as dedicated to helping you achieve your goals as we are. Taking the first step can be daunting, but I promise that once you do, you’ll never look back.
